In 2019, my husband and I opened Nature's Gateway, LLC, a Holistic Wellness Center located in Hartland, MI. Shortly after our grand opening, the big ole 'C' came busting in, wreaking havoc on the world and our small business. Luckily for us, we were essential, so we were shut down temporarily. Unluckily for us, rent was based on square footage and with the CDC implemented guidelines, 3/4 of our large, beautiful space was shut down, on and off, for over a year. This put us in a tight spot financially, but we didn't give up. To find the best financial balance I could, I chose to work 6-7 days a week. I arrived at my office early. I stayed in my office late. I attended school full time, and I raised my two beautiful blessings; Kiersten and Cj. <3 I spent 4 years running my nervous system into the ground for a physical space that cost me so much more than financial distress. One evening, standing in the shower, exhausted, sobbing and praying, I threw my hands in the air, and I verbally surrendered my space to the Lord as I hit the shower tile on my knees. Immediately, I felt God wrap his arms around me; he comforted me, and he calmed my nervous system. In that moment, I knew that this was all part of his plan. I promised to trust him and the outcome. One of the biggest lessons God taught me was that walls DON'T define me, I define them <3 I am blessed to say that Nature's Gateway, LLC, is now a private practice located in Fenton, MI and is flourishing <3 God's plans are always greater than ours, even when we lack understanding.
